One of the best words in any language has got to be “free” or “gratis” in German. Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff for “gratis” at the drugstore and I think I need to share these with you before anything else because they could be gone quicker than they appeared.
Look out for Garnier skin products with a red paper tag like the one above. Roughly translated it says “Test now for free” and it has instructions and an address on the back. It’s not free literally NOW, you have to pay for the product, hold on to the receipt which you mail to them if you don’t like the product after one week.
If you have a better conscience than me, maybe this isn’t for you haha. Maybe you do like the product and feel bad acting like you don’t. For me €9.95 is like five lipsticks soo….
Be on the lookout for small flyers and envelopes like the one pictured above. I’ve see this one for Olaz (I think it’s Olay in the U.S.) and for Nivea hair products. If I recall correctly Nivea allows you to buy up to three products and you mail in your receipt for your money back. Same thing with Olaz but I’m not sure on the product limit. The Olaz flyer doubles as an envelope with some lines to fill in (name, address, etc.), not sure about the Nivea flyer.
I’m just giving you a heads up and a quick run down, if you do want to take advantage of these please double check the instructions (or have a German speaking friend review it for you) and product limits. So far all these offers can be found at DM, not sure about Rossmann or Müller.
This last one is exclusive to DM with their Balea line of skin care. Some of their moisturizers come with a free nail polish or blush, both from P2, and that is a €2-3 value. Someone told me you can find this on their tampons too, I haven’t checked but I would just be on the look out for DM brand products.
I’ve never been a coupon clipper or mail-in rebates kind of person but since I’ve started to really delve into the beauty world I’ve started looking for these types of offers (and my boyfriend is the master of cash back offers). This is a great way to try new products without the risk of paying for something that you might end up regretting, especially with Olaz or Garnier products which tend to be on the higher end of the drugstore price spectrum. I can live with a €2 Balea moisturizer that did squat for me but a €10 product? Oh no honey, my money is precious to me.
If you try any of these products or offers, let me know and as always I hope this is helpful to someone. Bis gleich and don’t forget to follow!
