One hundred followers! That is nothing to some of you, who put more time and effort into your blog, but to me that is quite something and rewarding. (It was tempting to reward myself for this but I am constantly buying things so there was no point in enabling myself even further.) Thank you to everyone who follows me and reads my posts, truly!
For today I am finally reviewing this baked palette from BH Cosmetics. I’ve had it for months now, mentioned it in my last favorites post, and with the weather beginning to call for something more subtle it is time to talk about it or wait until next summer.
As of late, BH Cosmetics has been on a roll releasing new and beautiful products like this Wild & Radiant Baked Illuminating & Bronzing Palette. They released this palette sometime mid-summer and I knew I had to have it, even if I was still getting the hang of bronzing and highlighting.
The palette includes two bronzers, two highlighters, and a mirror the size of the palette.
Here are closeups of the four. I’d say the top two are warmer toned and the bottom two are cool, correct me of I’m wrong. Each pan contains 2.5g of product and the palette costs $6-9, depending on what sale is going on that week. I think I paid $8. Like many palettes from this brand, the packaging is made of cardboard and not ideal for putting your purse, just a thought.
I mentioned in my favorites post that these give you that Dolce & Gabbana summer ad look, they are metallic. Not shimmery, straight up metallic. If you like a subtle look then you’ll be staying away from this palette. I love it for an ultra summery look, a look I wore all Labor Day Weekend in Vegas last month.
And since that was the last time I used it, walking outside from casino to casino in 100 degree weather, I can’t accurately recall the longevity of it. I definitely want to say that it survived the entire day but remember that I was walking outside in 100 degree weather!
Swatches go: top row left to right, bottom row left to right. (On a side note, can I sign up for a swatching 101 class somewhere?)
I’m no expert, but I don’t think the bronzers suit every skin tone. Umm, I’m not even sure if they suit me come to think of it, but I like them and I wear them anyway haha. These are baked and therefore super hard and dry and can be powdery, I am constantly cleaning the palette of excess powder. That said, I like everything about this palette (with the exception of the logo and font design, not as elegant as some of their newer products but with “wild” in the name it makes some sense). This is a product I just enjoy looking at and even swatching from time to time, is that weird?
I know BH Cosmetics is famed and sometimes shamed for selling private label cosmetics, but their own products that they are putting out are exceptional. I have another review of their products coming soon where I think I’ll delve a little more into that. Anyway, if you enjoy this type of ultra-summery, near-metallic look then this palette is totally for you and even if summer is three seasons away you should buy it immediately.
And thank you again for helping me reach 100 followers, I’m so glad you like my blog!
Bis gleich and don’t forget to follow!
