Drugstore Highlighters | $10 Or Less

best drugstore highlighters

Believe it or not, good highlighters at the drugstore do exist and I have a list to prove it. Not to hate on high-end or Sephora priced highlighters, but I have heard enough complaints about a “lack of highlighters” at the drugstore to finally stand up and say something about it. Originally I thought that their increased availability was correlated to the explosion in their popularity, but some of these have been around far too long for that to be true, they just weren’t exactly labeled as “highlighters.” So I have compiled a list of highlighters, from my own makeup collection, to show that good highlighters are available at the drugstore and most of them are $10 or less.

I need to say though that I am super excited about this post! This topic has been swirling around in my head for a while, I hinted at it, and I have been in an all around funk lately, putting this together has been a boost for my (blogging) spirits.

Wet n Wild Reserve Your Cabana

Beginning with the obvious: Wet N Wild’s Color Icon Bronzer in Reserve Your Cabana. For the millionth time, this is not a bronzer but rather a subtle, everyday highlighter that only costs $4 anywhere Wet n Wild is sold. The pan is massive but careful, it contains SPF so this is one product that really does expire.

Above it is the Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips Custom All-in-1 Nude Palette. (These long winded names, honestly!) This is a blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, and highlighter with 16 shades to customize your look. I think this product often gets overlooked in favor of the Shimmer Strips, though this is much cuter. The top two rows can be used as a shimmery highlight, the only way I use it really. This can also be found anywhere Physician’s Formula is sold and costs $13.99 (and you can usually find a “Spend X-amount and get Y-amount back” type of deal).

Profusion Cosmetics highlighter

This next one requires a bit of luck to find, or an online order. The Profusion Cosmetics Studio Highlight Palette has every shade or tone of highlight you need. From white pearl to rose gold to bronze, this palette provides variety and a lot of product. Now that it is getting warmer I cannot wait to use the darker shades. I found mine at Marshalls for $4.99 but you can also order it on their website.

best ELF highlighters

No one at the drugstore offers more choices than E.L.F. and in different formats to boot. If you like highlighter in stick format they have the Essential All Over Color Sticks for $1, though I’ll admit that I can’t get the hang of these. If you like a liquid format there are the Shimmering Facial Whips, also $1, they come in 4-5 shades, and are easy to use. And if you prefer a powder there is the Shimmer Powder with Brush for $2 and the $3 “blush” in Gotta Glow. Does highlighter get anymore affordable?

Makeup Revolution Vivid baked highlightes

If you’re at Ulta, check out the Makeup Revolution section for these three highlighters. On top you can see two of their Vivid Baked Highlighters in Golden Lights and Radiant Lights, I don’t have Peach Lights. These can be a little hard in texture but intense on the cheek bones, and only $6 each. Beneath those is their Blush Palette in Sugar & Spice. Although it is a blush palette it includes two very shimmery highlighters on the right side which I never reach for but it is still nice to include them in here. This palette is $10.

BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel and highlighters

BH Cosmetics may not be sold at drugstores, but they are drugstore prices so I am including them in this list. Their Wild & Radiant Baked Illuminating & Bronzing Palette is an absolute steal and perfect for a metallic, almost editorial highlight. Of course you can tone it down, but why? Combined with the two bronzers in here, this palette is great for summer and I will be pulling mine out very soon. It is always on sale for $6-$9, keep an eye out. And to end this is list is the Carli Bybel Palette with its four highlighters on the bottom row. It contains two pink shades and two gold-bronze shades, all of which have a beautiful floral engraving that I don’t want to disturb. This palette goes for $12.50 on the BH Cosmetics site.

In conclusion, there are plenty of good highlighters out there that won’t cost you upwards of $40. And there is more, like the L’Oreal highlighters and the new Wet N Wild and old Fergie highlighters. Just saying 😉

Bis gleich and don’t forget to follow!
